How cute is this Snow White? Very cute indeed!

Although Ellie might not always want to dress up, when she does she's usually a princess. And did I mention a  bit of a ham for the camera as well?

For her presentation as Snow White I used the May 1st sketch from Sketch~n~Scrap. It had such distinctive elements I knew it would work well with the primary colours of yellow, red and blue that we always associate with Snow White. This particular sketch can be found at Sketch N Scrap #80.

The title is a Silhouette cut file. I put a layer of white and then gold under the title. The font is one from dafont called "Walter". It's one of the Disney fonts.

The castle embellishment was from the Disney collection and gave our princess a place to call home and took the place of the second suggested phono. A few stars to make the princess shine and my layout was complete.

Belugas

I was fascinated by the Belugas at the Vancouver Aquarium. They are gentle giants.  Most of the time they look like they are smiling at some joke they'll never share with you. Aurora and her daughter Qila would glide effortlessly through the massive aquarium as if performing a ballet. I watched them in fascination for an hour. A memorable experience. 

The sketch for this layout is from Scrapmuch? designed by Laura Whitaker.

The colours used were perfect for the marine theme of the layout. For this page I used the papers, plus two additional printed ones, from a Scrapmuch? Project Kit called "WOW". You might wonder why I didn't just make the kit as suggested. Actually I did. Confused yet?

What happened was that I ended up with two of the kit. I liked it so much I guess I bought another one not remembering I already had the first. There's something to be said for making up your kits on a timely basis.

So having made this page from the sketch and one kit, I made the second one as suggested, adding one of additional papers from the first page for continuity, ending up with a two page layout. I think it all worked out well in the end.

Road Trip

Who doesn't love a road trip on a beautiful sunny day?

And it was a gorgeous day, that day I set out from Vancouver to Whistler. I made my route the 'Sea to Sky Highway", a.k.a. Highway 99.

It took a while to get to Whistler because I just couldn't pass even one 'Viewing Point'. They're located all along Highway 99. The views at each stop are stunning.

Since my layout was about my trip to Whistler I couldn't resist taking pictures of the highway itself. It was only after I printed them that I realized just what an expansive vista I was presented with come every bend in the road.

I used the double page sketch from Scrapmuch?. I eagerly await the 1st Friday of the month because I can't survive without double page sketches and those by Laura Whitaker somehow always manage to be so well suited for what I want to accomplish with my pictures, of which I always have too many. In this case I simply rotated my photos so they would fit well.

It was interesting to find that, when completed, I'd journaled throughout the layout without even putting pen to paper.

 

I found this great paper "The Rockies" and it tells pretty plainly that my road trip was into the Rockies. The photo of the 99 Highway North, "Sea to Sky Hwy" sign describes my route, and the Whistler Village sign depicted my destination.

 

 

For embellishments I used a BC 'Doo Dad' and the rest came from my Silhouette. I cut out a shape from an old map for under my title. In keeping with the theme I cut out some road signs. It all seemed to fit.

 

It was great to relive that drive. If you're ever in BC...

Beauty

My daughter-in-law was truly a beauty on her wedding day.

 

 

The sketch I used is for the single page layout at Stick It Down. There are also a double page layout and a card sketch posted at Stick It Down to fuel your creative juices.

 

 

This sketch has lots of room for interpretation. I chose to stick fairly close to the suggested format though and was very pleased with how it turned out.

 

 

Theatre Under the Stars

Stanley Park is an amazing place. I was thrilled to find that each night there was a theatre presentation. I got tickets for the Music Man. I found myself, sitting with hundreds of others, in my lawn chair sipping wine. I thought it couldn't get better but then night fell and the theatre was then actually 'under the stars' and  that made it even more special.

I was thrilled with how well the Stick It Down double-page layout worked with my few photos, brochure and ticket. I really do love using bits and bobs from my sightseeing stops.

I used the Star-Crossed paper from Bo Bunny. What could be better for a layout with stars in the title? I added some chipboard stars I'd painted white and some star outlines cut using my Silhouette. and I was really happy with how my pages turned out.
